1 CHRONICLES 29:11-12
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.
9 Remember the things I have done in the past.
For I alone am God!
I am God, and there is none like me.
10 Only I can tell you the future
before it even happens.
Everything I plan will come to pass,
for I do whatever I wish.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Allowing God to be your guide begins with a commitment to trust. God cannot lead you where you will not follow. We must grow in our desire for God’s instruction and guidance.
If you’ll let him, God will guide you in and out of every circumstance by tugging on your spirit and speaking to your heart. With God as the leader of your life you will be led into God's good plans for you. He’s given you all you will ever need to go through life. He is your shepherd, your guide to green pastures. You just have to acknowledge and trust that God is able to lead you, that God knows you better than you know yourself, and as your creator desires the best for you. That is what the passage above from 2 Chronicles reminds us of "Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.
Reflect on what it would be like if you committed to let God guide you through life. How might this impact your world view? In what ways would this impact your choices?
Ask God to lead you. Commit to trust him and follow him wherever he leads.
Ask God to let you in on what He wants to do in your life next.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your guidance. Forgive me for getting ahead of Your plans, and help me know when to stop and listen for Your direction. Your ways are perfect. Thank You for offering gentle grace and guidance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
