Philippians 4:19-20

My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Confidence is a word we all use but many of us barely think about. I believe that the tried and true way to live confidently is to have what we have been calling “God Confidence.” God Confidence is founded in the notion of a Big God who is able to do all things. At times in my life, I have lived with a God who is small. How about you? You understand what I am saying, going through a place of a big decision, or a big problem and we trust in our selves to sort it out, this adds anxiousness, worry and most likely sleeplessness. Been there done that? Make no mistake: It is we who have limited God.

We believe in God, but when it comes to applying his power, his might, his love and his greatness to our lives, we aren’t always confident the idea will work out. In practice in those seasons, we disconnect from God in our day-to-day lives. We try to take on our challenges and troubles alone.

Cultivating God Confidence means that we believe in a big God, and if you pray to a big God, if you act like there is a big God, you will grow big spiritually and in every other way and, believe me you will experience big outcomes as well. You will be a partner of a big God.

Paul, in our Bible reading today above writes, “my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Now, what is meant by all your needs? Does this mean our spiritual needs will be met? The statement does not state that. Notice this verse has no restrictions. It says, “My God will meet supply ALL your needs.” Interpretated then this means

God will supply your mental needs.
God will supply your emotional needs.
God will supply your physical needs.
God will supply your material needs.

You will cultivate God Confidence. You know what else? God Confidence will build the faith in us to step out and to do big things. Living out of this God Confidence means we do not sit around and complain and lament that we are weak, inadequate and inferior, for that is not true at all.

The fact is that through faith in a big God we possess the knowledge, strength, and optimism necessary to meet any situation. In a word, we have the power, because God is our helper, to bring about revolution in our life. Let us continue to cultivate God Confidence and place all of our life, joys, problems and challenges, into “heaven’s hands” and believe, positively, that God is Always for you, God Always Helps you, and God is Still Working in You.

Lord, thank you that you are always faithful and true, and that your steadfast love never ceases. Thank you that prayer is powerful and effective, and that even when we doubt, you still hear our prayers and act on our behalf. Lord, I confess that sometimes I doubt. Sometimes I’m not sure if my prayers are really effective or if you hear me. So Lord, I ask you would reassure my faith. Help me have confidence that you will always be there for me and will never leave or forsake me. Thank you for your tender love for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
